KO's high cholesterol: |
|
You
read it right; eat 2 slices of toast a day and lower cholesterol
by 30%!
I
had my cholesterol tested a few months back and come to find out,
it was at 200. Borderline high, not high enough to go crazy with
statins, but time to be proactive, nevertheless. Getting it down
to 150 would be my goal.
I told the doc, "No statins....yet!", what else could
I do? Well, fixing my diet would be a great first start, he said
and including a margarine called "Total Control" in my
diet. Margarine, really. What gives? Turns out this margarine includes
a natural ingredient called plant
sterols that are proven to reduce bad cholesterol(ldl) by up
to 30% while not affecting the good cholesterol(hdl)
The
instructions state to eat 2 tablespoons a day of the margarine,
for maximum cholesterol reduction. Whenever I am eating any high
cholesterol food, I will either slather some "Total Control"
or "Benecol" on it, or on a piece of bread and eat it.
This margarine is not noticeably different in any way to regular
margarine.
Not sure how it works; but I understand that it either binds up
with the cholesterol in the foods or just plain blocks the cholesterol
receptors in the colon.
Well
I had my cholesterol tested in early March, 2005 and it is at 154.
I will continue to eat this margarine, forever

I
strongly encourage people to be proactive with their cholesterol
while it is still low enough to manage without statins and to use
"Total Control"
or "Benecol" margarine.
