I
owned a pocket-sized digital camera that took great pictures but
at the expense of short battery life. It was a 2.1 megapixel Canon
that I had purchased 4 years back. I wanted more pixels and more
zoom so I bit the bullet and started shopping for a new model.
My
old camera only had a 3x zoom, which is adequate, but I really wanted
8x or better along with 4+ megapixels . I noticed among the models
that met my criteria, most were in the $500 and up price range.
I came upon the Fuji S5100 and though it looked to be a bit smaller,
and the price looked almost too good to be true-- under $400. I
went to my local Circuit City, looked it over and was very impressed
. I liked it so much that I bought it on the spot.
It
was a nice day out so I gathered up the family, grabbed my new Fuji
S5100, and headed to our local park and started snapping away. I
was impressed with the battery life as I'm still working with the
same set of batteries days later. I really like the camera, but
I have a few issues with it. My old camera had an optical viewfinder,
allowing me to use the LCD screen less, thus saving battery power.
Some of the features, required a bit of manual dexterity to use--minor
inconveniences at worst.
Make
sure that you get at least a 256 mb memory card for your Fuji S5100,
a set of 4 rechargeable batteries along with a charger that works
in the home and car and a nice camera case and you have a winner
of a setup.
I
think the Fuji S5100 is a great camera and I highly recommend it.
