Makeup for Acne- What Works: |
|
I have moderate to severe adult acne, especially on my chin and
temples, and have found that most types of makeup actually make
the acne more noticeable, not less. I have yet to find a cure for
this and continue to use acne creams with Benzoyl Peroxide as they
do offer some help. Meanwhile, when a blemish does show up I need
to cover it up now! I've tried for awhile to find a concealer that
works. I have tried many foundations (loose powders, pressed powders,
foundation sticks and liquid foundations). They either look splotchy
and unnatural, or they start to dry up and crumble after a few hours.
I
was introduced to Bare Escentuals SPF 15 mineral powder a
few weeks ago by my hair stylist and I really think it's the best
cover makeup for acne I've used so far. Since it is a powder, I
use moisturizer as a base even for my oily skin.
To
apply the foundation, swirl a little onto your make up brush, tap
off the excess and buff into your skin. This product blends well
into your skin and, unlike traditional foundations there is no stop/start
border line, you know that line at the bottom of your chin where
your foundation stops and your skin begins). It takes all of abot
1 1/2 minutes to apply.
Although
this foundation is expensive ( around $40), it really is a miracle
for my blemished skin. It made my acne less noticeable and doesn't
irritate my skin, which is really nice. It's easy to apply and lasts
all day long
