Home Schooling Benefits:

The Advantages of Home Schooling:

Home schooling has been recognized as the most diverse and flexible education option available today. It has also become a growing trend among parents who are searching for an alternative to a declining public education system. According to government statistics, an estimated 1.5 million US families have chosen to home school their children. The reasons for this choice vary, but the advantages do not. Home schooled children have an opportunity to receive a superior education that is specifically attuned to their individual needs. Parents are able to pick and choose the curriculum that best suits their child's learning style, personality, and interests. An eclectic approach tailored to a child's needs makes education more exciting and interesting, building confidence and promoting creativity. Home schoolers also enjoy an unlimited supply of educational resources; the world is their classroom. Instead of being confined within an overcrowded room, they have an opportunity to learn about the real world by being part of it. Field trips to museums, libraries, even the grocery store can be tied into lessons while providing "real world" experiences.

For many home schoolers, one of the greatest advantages of home schooling is the strengthening of family relationships. Home schooling families spend a large amount of time with one another and this naturally creates bonds between siblings and between children and their parents. A real sense of cooperation can be developed from working and learning together. Parents also have more of an opportunity to instill in their children the beliefs and values that are important to them.
Enhanced family relationships help to ensure better socialization among children. Home schooled students are typically better socialized because they are not confined to the artificial same-age-only relationship of the average school setting. Their Home experience, coupled with their "real world" experience provide an opportunity for them to learn how to get along with people of all ages.

Another advantage of Home schooling is the level of academic excellence that Home schoolers are known for achieving. Children who have been Home schooled typically perform better on standardized tests than children educated within public schools. Colleges are interested in capable and motivated learners. They not only accept Home schooled children, they have begun seeking them out.

Finally, Home schooling offers one thing that public school systems can not. Safety. With violence in public schools on the rise, there is no substitute for the sanctity that Home can provide.
