Bikram
Yoga - is a unique series of 26 postures that deeply detoxifies
and revitalizes every system throughout the body. This practice
builds a perfect foundation of strength, balance, and flexibility
and is essential for a comprehensive yogic experience. The same
series of 26 postures is practiced in the same manner each yoga
class which allows for a deep meditation in movement and allows
the body to focus on each posture as your practice progresses.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga - is a series of hatha yoga postures practiced
in a flow style emphasizing the use of the breath to facilitate
the movement from one posture to the next. The flow of poses varies
depending on the format chosen by the instructor in order to access
the body differently each class. Because the postures flow, without
cessation of movement, Vinyasa builds core strength, coordination,
and flexibility.
Restorative Yoga - is an important aspect of any yoga practice,
beginning each class with a pranayama "breathing" meditation
which calms the mind and integrates the body, followed by a series
of slow, gentle stretches, to emphasize the areas of the body we
overwork or overlook. This is an excellent practice for athletes,
and for anyone who is working toward healing sports related injuries.
Bikram
music classes, which are offered without formal instruction are
not appropriate for individuals who are new to the practice. All
yoga series are generally practiced in a warm room in order to facilitate
stretching, movement, and detoxification. However, the Bikram series,
commonly referred to as "hot yoga", is taught in a room
that is typically heated to 103 to 105 degrees. In order to transform
physically, mentally, and emotionally, we recommend practicing yoga
3 to 6 times per week. The optimal combination would be; two Bikram
classes, two Vinyasa classes, and one Restorative class per week.
You will find that the Bikram and Vinyasa styles support cardiovascular
health.
Make
yoga and meditation a priority and everyone benefits!
