Having a car warranty can give you peace of mind for your vehicle
for many years to come.
Brand new vehicles come with a factory car warranty. Even most
used cars these days have warranties. But if you plan on making
your car last, an extended car warranty may be a good thing for
you to consider. There are many companies that offer extended warranties
outside of the dealership. There are also many options available
from these companies. So a good amount of research of different
car warranties available can save you money and get you the best
coverage.
While shopping for an extended car warranty it is important to
decide what type of coverage you will require. There are generally
4 different levels of warranty coverage. The companies will use
many different names for this coverage but they still pretty much
follow the same models:
Powertrain:
This is the least expensive level of coverage and includes engine,
transmission, transfer case and drive axles. The actual extent of
the coverage will probably vary from company to company.
Powertrain Plus:
This coverage includes all of the Powertrain components plus about
5 to 10 additional components. This may include steering, electrical,
air conditioning, the cooling system and the fuel system.
Full Coverage or Premier:
This is probably the best type of extended car warranty coverage.
In this type of coverage, all of the covered components are listed.
This is an important difference between this level of coverage and
Bumper to Bumper. In Full Coverage the covered components include
all of the Powertrain Plus components plus such items as high tech
electrical and customer convenience packages.
Bumper to Bumper or Premier Plus:
This is also known as ?Factory Coverage?. This is the type of coverage
you get when you buy a brand new car. This is the most comprehensive
coverage available. There is a list of excluded items which you
should read carefully.
Getting an extended car warranty may be a wise idea if you are
the kind of person that likes to hold on to your car for years to
come. There are many things to consider if you are thinking about
getting an extended warranty. As long as you know what to look for
and do some research you can be sure that you will make the right
decision that could reduce hassles and save you money.
