These are the things you will need for this recipe:
- Packet
of Frozed Peas, unsalted
- 2
packets of Knox Gelatin
- Water
or Orange Juice
- 1
cup water
When buying the peas, make sure they are unsalted
and without any additives, for the safety of your goldfish. You may
also use fresh peas (shelled, of course).
- Pour
out 1 cup of the peas. If you are using frozen peas, nuke them
in the microwave for a few minutes until they are thawed and tender.
If you are using fresh peas, lightly cook them. Since you are
going to blend the peas, you don't need to pinch off the skins.
- Pour
the peas into the blender and add your water or orange juice into
the blender, just enough as to wet the blender so it will blend
sufficiently. Orange juice is a nice alternative to water, since
it adds Vitamin C into the recipe. If you use orange juice, make
sure it's the pulp free kind! Blend the mixture until it is
nice and liquified.
- Boil
1 cup of water and pour into measuring cup and mix in the 2 packets
of Knox Gelatin. Make sure that the water is hot as you mix in
the Knox! If there are clumps, try breaking them up with the back
of a spoon.
- Pour
the peas mixture into the measuring cup, with the Knox mixture.
Mix this thoroughly, until the pea mixture seems to thicken.
- Line
2 refridgerate-able containers (I suggest tupperware or Gladware
or some equavalent) with plastic wrap. Make sure the ends of the
plastic wrap hang out, over the lid. This will make cleaning up,
when you've either used up the pea solution or decided to discard
it, much easier.
- Pour
the solution into the containers and tightly close them. Refridgerate
them until they are firm. To serve, simply scoop chunks out with
your spoon. Make sure they are chunks that are eatable by your
goldfish.
