Goldfish
can live a very long time...
...as much as 20 years old! And they can become very big, as much
as 6-12 inches big! A goldfish, therefore, if cared for properly,
can be a friend for life. They are creatures with personalities,
with feelings, and with a vavacious appitite (remember to only feed
your goldfish what it can eat in 5 minutes,
to avoid the risk of overfeeding). You can train your goldfish to
eat out of your fingers, to come to the top of the tank when you
near; you can watch them happily swimming back and forth and interacting
with their environment. A tank, after all, is a mini-environment
that you have created!
Just remember these rules and you should be safely on your way to
goldfish-keeping:
- Feed
goldfish only what they can eat in 5 minutes. (more
info here)
- Don't
overstock your tank: remember the 10 gallon per 1 goldfish rule!
- The
more filtration, the better.
- Salt
is a good way to help your goldfish when you don't know what's
wrong.
- MelaFix
will always help cure wounds.
- Feed
your fish a variety of food and keep it happy (more
info here).
