One thing you do not want to miss while visiting Northern Michigan is hunting for the "elusive" morels in the spring.

People come from out of state just to look for these tasty mushrooms. You will see many camping in the woods while they are here. It is a big event! And of course there is the mushroom festival in Mesick.I can hardly wait to go out hunting myself!!

The picture above is of a gray morel mushroom that I found in my back yard. I found about 10 of them...mostly under a pine tree. Anyone wanting to display their find can send your photos and any info you would like to share, like where you found them,(just kidding..no one ever tells) to me and I will put up your pics. If you cannot find a morel mushroom yourself, just buy some dried morels online. There are many retailers.
